SALEM AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE MEETING: 11/17/25 9:00-10:00 at On a Limb Bakery
PRESENT: Laura Dunham, Dawn Adams-Rea, Vivian Ciolli, Charlie Duveen, Susi Thomas, Rosemary Smith, Mary Ellen Bayliss
Treasurer’s Report : motion to approve quorum not available
Salem Postcard: suggestions made to change a couple of the pictures and add QR code; changes bill be made then printed.
Advertising: Holiday: suggestion made to advertise in Chronicle along with Salem Press-funds are available for this.
Christmas Trees: we have received $400 from the Town to help cover the expenses of trees & lighting and appreciate their generosity
Main Street Planters/Chairs: Salem Community Foundation granted $1500 towards the expense of rebuilding chairs and planters. This project will happen in Spring 2026
Chamber Main Street Office: Remodeling has begun, the Dunham’s expect to be ready to launch in mind-January. Discussion held re: best hours for the Chamber to be open-looking at Monda/Friday/Saturday 10-2 with possible additional hours in summer. All agree it’s important to have set hours that people can count on. Discussion held re: Salem branded items for the Chamber to sell – t-shirts, water bottles, postcards, Salem ornaments, Shushan ornaments. The Chamber will also showcase member products for sale with 20% commission.

New Business: Everyone welcomed Mary Ellen Bayliss, Regional Practice Leader for Hudson Headwaters Health Network. Mary Ellen is the niece of Dave/Peg Culver and very familiar with Salem; we are delighted she has expressed her interest in joining the Chamber Board
Dawn shared that the #SoSalem fund received a grant to purchase and gift a new hearing testing unit to Salem Washington Academy; replacing a unit that was decades old.
