Sue Clary gave a Sewer Update:

The committee has been working on this for 3 years now, getting an engineer’s feasibility study.
Delaware Engineering has been working for free and now they have sent out a survey to homeowners and renters.
The survey allows for the possibility to receive grants.Margaret mentioned there are renters on Archibald Street who should receive the survey.  Sue said she would address this.
The question is where to put the treatment area, where flooding will not cause pollution.

Health Vans:
There will be 2 health vans because of a million dollar grant. They are looking for a location for 1 of the vans in Salem, must have internet access.
Hopefully they will be used for covid-19 vaccines, as well as other health issues.

Postcards to new Salem area residents:

The idea of identifying new residents, and welcoming them this way was mentioned.

Kyle West mentioned he got a History of Salem letter.

Tom Clary, Susi Thomas and Kay Tomasi have been discussing the idea of using Jacko’s for some sort of community space.
Tom told of a professor from the midwest who is a grant writer and who has been helping with a business plan, looking into liquor license and discussing how it may benefit the theater as well as the community at large.
Possibly tables on wheels to make the space flexible for multiple purposes.

Other Salem businesses:
The Central House is being used by Sydney Dorrity (Photographer)
The Abrams building (last Faerydale) has been purchased

Veteran’s  Park:
It was reported that approx.. $22,000 in donations have been received, approx.. $5000 remaining.

Donna Anderson has been working on a planting design, formal around the flag and boulders and wetlands plantings where the area is often wet.

There are still bricks to be purchased.
Just as there is a “Story behind every chair” on main street, it was suggested there might be a “Story behind every brick”

Art and Plow Fest 2021: This is up in the air and no planning is taking place so far, due to Covid-19.

Salem brochure: Angela wonders if this will happen this year. $75 per business.

It was suggested perhaps the flyer be a trifold designed without a calendar this year, again due to the uncertainty of events, due to covid.

Signpost:
Al Wilson had said he would do the refinishing of the arrows on the signpost as a winter project.

Renewals:
It is time for everyone to renew their SACC membership which can now be done online as well as by mail.

Georgi Museum: The Georgi needs volunteers to do gardening and when covid ends, to be docents. “Get to Know the Georgi” day was brought up as a great idea.

Charlie Duveen brought up:

The idea of a Learning Center, with internet access, in several locations including Proudfit, White Church and Presbyterian Church in West Hebron.
He’d like to see 2 hour sessions with students who need help. Looking for volunteers, but realizes it is difficult now during the pandemic.

Perhaps in April. Superintendent glover would like to see it happening.
Charlie also reminded us of the importance of Big Brothers/Big Sisters. time to ramp it up in the spring.
Susi mentioned that the old Buddee building has offices for rent with high speed internet.

Jessica moved and Tom and Charlie both seconded to adjourn at 5:55 pm.
The meeting was adjourned by Laura.

Respectfully submitted by Donna Orlyk, secretary
